Safran Power Units Auxiliary Power Units are compatible with all hosts, whatever the application: civil or military, air, land or sea.
Safran Power Units' different turbine families deliver up to 500 shp (shaft horse power) of electric, pneumatic or mechanical energy to match the specific needs of your programs.
In order to comply with the dimensional constraints of small aircraft such as training aeroplanes, Safran Power Units has developed the Saphir 10 Auxiliary Power Unit which powers the recent versions of the BAE SYSTEMS Hawk, in particular for the AJT (Advance Jet Trainer) fleets of the English RAF (Royal Air Force) but also for the Australian and South African air forces.
This APU provides the pneumatic power required for the air turbine starter developed by Safran Power Units for the main engine as well as 12 kVA of electrical power.
It also provides output for cockpit air conditioning.
